Nur wenige Tage nach dem letzten Update hat Rolo eine weitere Aktualisierung seiner App auf die Version 1.5.3 nachgelegt.

Dadurch wird der Fehler beim Starten der App behoben und der Messenger weiter verbessert.

Wie BlackBerry heute bekannt gegeben hat, wurden Patente im Wert von 600 Millionen US-Dollar an die Firma Catapult IP Innovations Inc. verkauft. 

Die verkauften Patente betreffen nicht das aktuelle Kerngeschäft von BlackBerry.

Im nächsten Teil unseres Rückblicks auf historische BlackBerry-Geräte widmen wir uns dem BlackBerry 7290, welcher im September 2004 veröffentlicht wurde. Wie damals üblich, hatte auch dieses Gerät nur Platz für eine SIM-Card und hatte weder Wlan oder eine Kamera an Bord. Immerhin war Bluetooth 1.1 integriert und ein 2,5 mm Klinkenstecker verbaut. Als Netzwerk-Technologie wurde 2G unterstützt. 

Die Abmessungen (LxBxH) des BlackBerry 7290 sind 113x74,5x22 Millimeter und es wiegt inklusive Batterie 139 Gramm. Das Device läuft unter BlackBerry OS 4.0, hat bereits 32 MB internen Speicher und sogar 4 MB RAM. Das TFT LCD Display im 3:2 Verhältnis hat eine Größe von 2,6 Zoll (240 x 160 Pixel, 111 ppi) und bildet 65000 Farben ab. 

Der Lithium-Ionen-Akku war austauschbar, die Sprechzeit wurde mit 4 Stunden und die Standby-Zeit mit 8,8 Tagen (210 Stunden) angegeben. Für Nachrichten standen euch mit dem 7290 SMS und eMail zur Verfügung. 

Angeboten wurde der BlackBerry 7290 in den Farben Cosmos Black, Satin Blue und Steel blue. 

BlackBerry hat Anfang Januar 2022 auf der BlackBerry Knowledge Base erneut die Liste der von der Abkündigung für Android 8 und iOS 13 betroffenen Produkte ergänzt bzw. aktualisiert. 

So wird BlackBerry im Januar und März 2022 beginnen, die Unterstützung für Android 8 und iOS 13 für mehrere BlackBerry-Apps zu entfernen. Ab diesem Zeitpunkt haben Benutzer mit Geräten mit Android 8 und iOS 13 keinen Zugriff mehr auf die aktualisierten Versionen der unten aufgeführten BlackBerry-Apps. 

Die nachfolgenden Apps können dann weiterhin verwendet werden, erhalten jedoch keine neuen Funktionen oder Updates mehr:

Für das Unihertz Titan Pocket steht ein Update zur Verfügung. Sollte euch dieses nicht automatisch angezeigt werden, so findet ihr es unter Einstellungen --> Über das Telefon --> Systemaktualisierung.

Die Neuerungen lauten wie folgt:

1. Update security patch to 2021-12-05
2. Solve the problem that some widgets cannot be deleted
3. Automatically disable the Scroll Assistant when the battery power is less than 5% to prevent touch interference
4. Solve the weak light issue after the screen is off
5. In the SIM PIN lock interface, the user needs to press the ENTER key to input
6. Support double-click the shortcut key to turn on the flashlight
7. Optimize Kika input method
8. Double-click the magic key in the editing interface and the touchpad can be used to move the cursor
(There are three programmable keys: Sym key, Fn key, and PTT key. They can all be set as customized Magic keys. The path: Settings >Intelligent assistance > Shortcut settings > Programmable key > Magic keys)

Viel zu lange gab es keine Informationen von OnwardMobility bezüglich des schon für 2021 angekündigten BlackBerry 5G oder zu ihren Aktivitäten selbst. 

Neuigkeiten gab es nur spärlich von Personen, die einer strengen Verschwiegenheitserklärung unterliegen, nur vage etwas mitteilen konnten und offiziell oft nur ihre persönliche Einschätzung wiedergegeben haben. 

Nun endlich hat sich OnwardMobility gemeldet und mitgeteilt, dass es das Unternehmen noch gibt und nicht tot ist, wie vielfach schon vermutet wurde. 

Nachfolend die Mitteilung im Original:

We’ve read all your Facebook and LinkedIn comments, articles, Tweets, email messages and more, and not only do we understand your frustration, but we genuinely share it. Everyone has eagerly awaited additional information following our last announcement, but 2021 was truly a challenging year to launch a new phone, much less one with the high expectations we set and the fact that we want to get it right!

While we encountered various delays that prevented us from shipping in 2021, we will be providing more regular updates starting this month that will clarify and answer many of your questions about the ultra-secure 5G enterprise smartphone (still with a keyboard!) we’re bringing to market.
